Me: Max, you are going to be a first grader! What kinds of stuff do you think you will do in first grade?
Max: Well...harder stuff I would guess. (Said in a very serious voice)
Max:It is like you have no responsibility! (Said in exasperation while trying to wash his hands in the kitchen sink that was piled high with dishes. Aside from the fact that is NOT the way you talk to your Mother...he was a little bit correct.)
Me: (said in true sincerity) It must be really cool to be well rounded...you know, good at a lot of things. Is it?
John David: Yep, pretty much.
(I am not well rounded...I am a specialist and I outsource as much as I can...which makes being married to someone well rounded a very good thing).
We start our summer school today!
Reading, math, journals, and setting up our timeline of the history of the world:)
The Barnes and Noble kids' book club starts today (Monday) at 2 pm in GA.
I think I should give something away on Tuesday....
Afternoon: Same layered t-shirts and Mom Capri Pants.
(I think we played basketball that day...but I am pretty sure these violate all What Not To Wear rules.)
I think I got my hair cut on this day too....it really looks short.
Like I'm a middle school boy short.
Thursday: Blue golf shirt and rust colored pants (that matched everything in the catalog when I ordered them on total clearance...but nothing once I actually got them. I pretend it matches this shirt.)
A necklace JD brought me back from Africa.
Friday: Look at me GROW!
Morning outfit..t-shirt, sweater vest (just another version of a cardigan) and jeans.
I later spilled Dr. Pepper down the front of the sweater.
Basketball outfit...which I later got avocado on the shirt.
Evening outfit. T-shirt and jeans.
Yes, see, I dress for dinner.
Saturday: Morning outfit: sweatshirt over pajama top with sweatpants. Lovely.
My hair was too intense for the internet.
Afternoon: T-shirt, cardigan and jeans with the rip in the left knee.
(I always get a rip in the left knee. Is my left knee sharper? My left foot is shorter.)
More shoes that match nothing and I, therefore, wear them with everything.
Sunday: Yes...I wore that to church:) It is way casual at our church.
Hmmm...outfit looks a lot like the day before.....
Afternoon: a little self promotional t-shirt.
So t-shirts, jeans, cardigans, a few bright necklaces and fun shoes.
That is my uniform.
Most days I do go somewhere...If I don't....I have on sweats.
I so know she was kidding when she asked me about my clothes.
But the blog has been a little lacking in silliness.
And silliness is like a photo...evey post needs some.
I do a load or 2 of laundry every day.
I fold it and we all put it away one a week.
Leslie - YES! My sunglasses do fall off into my grocery cart! I get them readjusted (tightened) from time to time. I have a big head:)
The photo just can not capture the hip wiggle in all its cuteness.
As the nurse put the little sticky monitor things on me,
he said in all seriousness,
"You know can't take a shower with these on."
Good to know.
I'm more concerned about setting off alarms at Barnes and Noble.
It feels like I have large band aids on me
and a cell phone size mechanical thing on my belt loop...
because I do.
It is just to be cautious.
I have these heart flutters,
get short of breath
and dizzy spells.
As far as reasons to wear a heart monitor -
these are pretty tame.
They said to try and do things that might stress my heart.
If only I had this thing on earlier:
When I was trying to get the house picked up before company arrived....only to resort to stuffing unrelated items into a laundry basket and mumbling oaths of how this would be the last time I let our home get to this disorderly stage. Did I mention I dumped clean clothes out of the basket to do this?
When I was lost (which as often as that happens, you would think I would be ok with it) in traffic and late to an appointment that I had to pay for even if I missed.
When this morning, JD mentioned he was going to attend a charity baseball game tonight and I mentioned this sounded like something that he could have said no to since he was working such long hours these days. He agreed and said we could talk about it later because he had a meeting. I said something like,"You mean you'll call me later to placate me or mollify me or some other big word that means make me not upset that you are still going?" He smiled and said yes.**
When I was at Chick-Fil-A last night for free chicken sandwich night (for real) and all the sudden the place was so crammed full that I started looking around to see the quickest way out of there. (Not that I am claustrophobic or anything, I just get nervous when I don't feel like I can exit a building and start looking around at people who may be dressed unseasonable warm and hiding explosives. But everyone does that - right?) Funny - because today I am wearing long sleeves and have random wires falling out of the bottom of my shirt attached to a clock like device on my belt loop.
As I sat and watched the Star Trek movie the other night because I was so stressed the whole movie that it would be bad. I really adore the Star Trek cannon and was so excited to see it revived. It was great! But I'd like to see it again without the stress or worrying that it wouldn't be great.
But today is pretty tame.
Like, driving the kids to karate
singing along to Abba Gold kind of tame.
So I jumped on the trampoline with the kids.
I called Mom. (Kidding...I already used that joke on her.)
And, uh...not anything else stressful going on.
So if anyone has any news you've been waiting to break to me or something like that...now is the time.
**I wasn't actually mad about this. If I were truly upset - it would never be on the blog:)
I don't know if Hallmark is on board with it yet...because, as we all know, that is where the true officialness-ess is sealed.
Over the weekend, at the scrapbooking web site
there will be challenges, prizes and other fun stuff.
I am hosting a challenge of a cross over craft: use a scrapbook related items in a non scrapbook page project. I made that bracelet using wooden beads, scrapbook paint, clear fingernail polish and a ribbon. (I know, watch out McGyver.) It is from today until Sunday night (12 EST). Prizes are from the kind sponsors of NSD over at two peas!
