Well, the cat is out of the bag with the kids*

They never realized that they could fake an illness to get out of school.

Until

to

day.

Basically, if someone is sick

I tell them 

"You are sick and we will just read, etc today"

or

"You are sick and you are not going to chess today"

It was out of my mouth before I realized what I had said today:

"Max, does your tummy hurt too much to go to your class today?"

He went from a child with a rumblie tummy

to a child doubled over

in serious pain

complete with moans

and hand motions.

Yes.

He is so my kid.

He threw in a

"and my neck hurts"

for good measure.

He isn't faking 100%.

He is just faking 94%.

It took the 6 year old to burst yet another homeschooling bubble my kids live in.

The sick fake out.

Who keeps cats in bags anyway?

Go fetch, Peeve.

They are actually talking to each other.

Just through the DS's.

Max's tag on looked like that all day long.

And I have a new pet peeve.

Technology that is suppossed to make my life easier but instead makes me fell dumb.

Ha, just thinking it would be funny to have a dog named Peeve.

So I moved my silverware drawer...

and my life hasn't really recovered.

About once a week

someone e-mails me and wants to know

how I balance the scrapbooking

and homeschooling

and life.

This is one of those weeks

when the wheels

axel

and parts of the transmition

fell off.

And I think I can back track it all 

to the moving of the silverware drawer

earlier this week.

But we are all good.

Mostly healthy.

and totally without balance.

Wilna asked if I will be at CHA.

Not this time around.

I'm totally going to miss it.

It is an experience I wish every scrapbooker could have.

To be in such a huge place with so many other people

who get "it" - this scrapbooking thing.

Hi.  Kelli Crowe here.  Loyal customer.

I am sorry to say that your 5 years of

excellent customer service have spoiled me.

And now I'm a little ticked.

Every Harry Potter book I pre-ordered

arrived at my doorstep the day it came out

in the book stores.

I kinda got into the habbit of pre-ordering

from you guys.

Even though I get a 20% teacher's discount

at Barnes and Noble.*

So when I pre-ordered the latest Whimpy Kid 

book back in Nov.

I was expecting to get the book on the day it 

came out.

Not because you promised it would.

Just based on past experience.

I called the very nice customer service

man who had no way of actually helping me

by magically making the book arrive at 

my appointed time

and he told me

that all items ordered using the 

super saver shipping

are now sent via USPS now

per your contract with

USPS.

So really.

This is your fault.

For setting my regular expectations

much higher

continually over 5 years.

*if you homeschool

you can take in a copy of your

declaration of intent to homeschool that (at least in GA) you send into the state each year and they will give you an Educator's card to use on books.  Even Spong Bob books.

I wasn't planning to leave the house

There are days I wish I could wear

a disclaimer sign

like:

"I wasn't planning on leaving the house today"

and that explains the look I have going on

if you can call

the sweatshirt I slept in

and track pants

that by the end of the day

have the delicate 

knee protrusions

even when my knees are no longer bent

and a cute stickie out haircut

but only on the left side.

I look forward to totally at home days

(a perk of the homeschooling)

And that was going to be today

except I ran to the post office first thing this morning

(and promptly saw someone I knew there)

And then they predicted major cold weather headed this way and I hadn't grocery shopped since...Christmas, so I ran to the G-store with the boys 

(it was 50 degrees today, hence the urgency

but that is what we do in the South, ok?)

And then the new book that we 

pre-ordered from Amazon back in Nov.

didn't arrive today

the premier day

So we were off to Barnes and Noble 

to fulfill the promise I made to some young lads.

And upon returning home

we got a call from a friend who's baby sitter

was running late

so back out the door to watch her kiddos for a tiny bit.

If we were to count

that is 4 leaves from the house

on the day 

I was dressed to stay home.

Since I didn't have on a disclaimer

I might print this out and 

post it about town

or something.

Anyone else doing the 365 photos thing?

(where you take a photo a day)

I plan to keep mine in an album.

I've only missed 1 day so far.

I'm torn...do I just stick a photo in there

like I took it on that day?

Or maybe place a drawing by one of the kids...

or a quote....

I am a little compulsive about 

things like this

I'm trying to be relaxed

and 

not 

let 

it 

take 

over 

my 

life.

I think I'm going to get David to draw 

on a post-it note each day in Feb.

Ok, so my resolutions are going just so so.

1. Make healthy choices: food/exercise.

Well

I've been sick

so...

I'm am mostly eating things that are arms reach away.

2. Read my Bible every morning.

Assuming today is the 4th,

I'm doing a little better than 50% on this so far.

3. Groom every day.

You know, just try to wear matching things

and actually fix my hair.

Might I refer back to the previous mention

of being sick..for 3 days.

Even my sweats don't match today.

4. Organize the house.

I am doing surprisingly well on this one...

considering I am sick

(cough)

I actually organized all my extra containers

on a set of their own shelves

5. Do something creative everyday.

Hmm.  Does watching everything on my

Tivo count towards anything?

cough.
